Rebar coupler for railway – Fuzhou to Xiamen High-Speed Railway
The section of the Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway constructed by China Communications Construction Second Highway Engineering Bureau, in which Anda Machinery participated, primarily focused on the Quanzhou Bay Cross-Sea Bridge and portions of ballastless track construction. Multiple innovative technologies were employed to achieve significant engineering breakthroughs.

Project Overview:
Scope of Work:
Ballastless track construction spanning 16 kilometers (8 km offshore, 8 km onshore). The cross-sea bridge features a multi-span, 370-meter continuous steel structure with no bearings, comprising 21 spans—a first for China’s railway sector. The Quanzhou Bay Cross-Sea Bridge is China’s first cross-sea high-speed railway bridge designed for 350 km/h speeds. Spanning approximately 20.29 kilometers, its offshore section covers nearly 9 kilometers, making it a critical control project for the Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway.
Construction Challenges:
Located in Quanzhou Bay’s high-wind zone, the area experiences an average of 48 days annually with winds reaching force 8 or higher. Complex offshore wind conditions and hydrology necessitated “seizing every opportunity” for construction scheduling, making the project highly weather-dependent.
Technological Innovations:
- Multi-span unsupported pier-to-pier main girders: Employed cantilevered formwork casting technology to achieve “aerial bridge growth,” enhancing construction safety and efficiency.
- Smart Ballastless Track Construction: Advanced tools and equipment were introduced to enhance track laying precision and quality.
Project Contributions:
The Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway Quanzhou Bay Cross-Sea Bridge is truly a remarkable sight! When reporters joined the press tour to visit the site, they were deeply impressed by its majestic grandeur. Notably, the people of Sanming also contributed to the bridge’s construction.
According to Luo Changwei, Chief Engineer of Section 2, Division 6 of the newly constructed Fuzhou-Xiamen Railway, the steel reinforcement coupling sleeves used in the approach bridges of the Quanzhou Bay Cross-Sea Bridge are premium products supplied by Anda Machinery. These high-quality steel reinforcement coupling sleeves provided by Anda Machinery have made significant contributions to the bridge’s construction, underscoring the importance of collaboration.
Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway Overall Plan
The Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway, a coastal high-speed rail line in Fujian Province, runs southward from Fuzhou City through Xiamen and Zhangzhou. With a main line length of 277.42 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, it connects major cities in Fujian and is planned to interconnect with the Hefei-Fuzhou and Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railways. Since construction commenced on September 30, 2017, the project is scheduled for full completion and opening to traffic by September 30, 2022. Notably, the Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway will seamlessly connect with the Hefei-Fuzhou High-Speed Railway, further linking to the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway via Hefei. This integration will realize the high-speed rail dream of direct connections from Fuzhou, Xiamen, Putian, Zhangzhou, and Nanping to Beijing.
